All About Me

I’m Shelly Flood Proud wife of Mike and mother of Joshua, Travis and Alexandria. We have also had the joy of having my sister as a full time member of our family for the past few years and her name is Christina. My husband and I married in August of 1999.   We are currently stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska where I am in the process of obtaining my childcare license.

I have been in childcare for a little over 17 years now starting off at the YMCA and now as a provider. I first received my childcare license at Cannon Air force Base and then at Nellis Air Force Base.

I love my job and get so much out of being with the children on a daily basis. I truly think I learn more from the kids than they from me. I feel that being around children makes my life complete and there is absolutely nothing Id rather be doing. Not to mention it has a lot of little perks that go with the job like being able to take

 care of your own family when they are sick or need you, being at home when your children walk through your door from school and being the one who helps them with their homework everyday! My job is so rewarding and it has enriched my life greatly.

Experience & Training:

I have been a Military Family childcare provider for 7 years and now I will be licensed through the state since we have a home off base. I will still maintain the 24 hours of training a year at a minimum but I tend to reach and exceed that quota every year.

 I take classes on a variety of subjects most centered on children and how to meet their needs to the best of my ability. I hold my current CPR/First aid cards and also attend yearly USDA trainings. You are more than welcome to see my complete training portfolio at your initial interview with me.  In addition to my training’s that I am required to obtain, I am also required to go through a yearly Background check, TB testing, and physicals (every 3 years).

I have earned my CDA, Child Development Associate, and am in the process of earning my Early Childhood Education Degree.

My Philosophy: 

I believe that every child has the right to feel safe, loved, nurtured and educated.  Children learn through life’s experiences and I strive to provide a safe, hand’s on learning environment for my childcare.  I introduce learning activates to the children with my

curriculum but I also let them learn for themselves through their own little experiences.

Each child will be treated with love, respect, and kindness in an environment that will feel like home. In this setting it is my hope that your child becomes a well rounded, secure and happy little individual surrounded by friends and great experiences!
